Daily Precipitation Report
Station Number: NC-NH-62
Station Name: Carolina Beach 1.0 N
Observation Date 1/22/2025 7:00 AM
Submitted 1/22/2025 8:00 AM
Gauge Catch
1.00 in.
Notes
Exactly an inch of liquid equivalent melted in the guage from snow and sleet falling. There was even a very little bit of rain and freezing rain at the onset. Overall more sleet fell than snow and at times the precipitation would change to snow and then back to sleet. It did this many times. Measurements are hard in an event like this one due to compacting of frozen precipitation, but measurements taken on the snow board, six hours apart, and averaged yielded 3 inches of sleet and snow. The total snowpack (from sleet/snow) is lower at 2.5 inches due to the aforementioned compacting. Flurries were falling at observation. The temperature is 22.2F. Light winds and cloudy.
