Thoughts on a record cold night:
Reloading the wood stove at four in the morning. Another cold night, and not without warning. It’s just happenstance that it’s on the same night that the planets lined up in a row, per our sight.
I’d laid up a good pile of hickory and oak, burning it hot, more fire than smoke. The coals were sufficient to kindle anew, so it’s back up to bed for an hour or two.
As the hickory burns with its dense BTU’s, I can drift back to sleep, and in my dreams muse, of splitting and stacking, laying up in a row, a great pile of cordwood, when it’s 13 below. |
